4-Day Trekking Tour from Hanoi to Cat Ba

This four day tour spent trekking on Cat Ba and kayaking in Lan Ha Bay offers you a way to explore the famous World Heritage Site in a way that lets you avoid the bigger tourist crowds of the more well-travelled Ha Long Bay. Together with our local guide, you’ll get to both venture deep into the jungle as well as float across the beautiful waters in your own kayak.

Day 1

Hanoi – Hai Phong – Cat Ba Island (L/D)

You will be collected at your hotel in Hanoi in the early morning and driven to Hai Phong City. From here you will take the express boat to the island of Cat Ba, arriving there around midday. You will then be transferred across the island to the eastern side where the town is, which takes about 45 minutes. From here you’ll board a small boat to Cai Beo fishing village, where you’ll get to enjoy a lunch made up of fresh local seafood and spend the rest of the day exploring the village or fishing with the locals before spending the night in a local homestay.

Day 2

Trekking on Cat Ba (B,L,D)

Today is all about trekking. After an early breakfast you will set out up Ha Sen Mountain with our experienced and knowledgeable local guide. This can be a hard trek and it is recommended to have at least a decent general level of fitness before attempting it, and some climbing skills also go a very long way here. Once on top, you will be greatly rewarded with amazing views of the entire island and bay surrounding it.
After we’ve gotten enough of the views, we trek back down to Cai Beo for another night at our homestay

Day 3

Kayaking in Lan Ha Bay (B,L,D)

Today you’ll have a whole day either cruising around on a junk or paddling your own kayak in Lan Ha Bay. You’ll be completely free to explore the stunning lagoons, fascinating floating villages and beautiful karst formations at your own pace for the entire day, and a support boat will meet you at lunch time for a well-deserved meal break. After spending the whole day exploring the waters, you’re sure to appreciate the well deserved rest back at the homestay with your hosts.

Day 4

Cat Ba Island – Hanoi(B/L)

After breakfast at the homestay we set out by boat to explore even more of the amazing karst formations and grottoes scattered around the bay. After this we return to the homestay where you can spend some time at the beach to relax, before taking the boat back to Hai Phong and driving to Hanoi.
